twloha: It’s a song about starting over. It’s telling someone that they deserve better. I’ve heard it with myself in mind, and I’ve heard it for other people. I heard it for a friend who told me that her marriage was ending. Her husband said he was still fighting to save their relationship, but he didn’t bother to get her anything for their anniversary or her birthday. I’m sitting across from her thinking she’s a dream and it was hard to fathom how someone could have that place in her life, claim to be trying and just totally blow it like that. I sent her the song, perhaps to say some things I didn’t know it was my place to say. (Songs are brave things.) …

I used to, until very recently, think my biggest fear was a life without love or being alone. But now I think my biggest fear would be to live a lie, to settle for living a story I don’t believe in. For me, this song says there’s still hope. You don’t have to settle. You can start again. And you deserve it.

Giving Up Hurts The Most

Angels mourn; crying, praying for your soul.

As my eyes open from their state of sleep,
I feel my blood turn into a frozen river.
Nightmares told me
Death was in the air.
My heart locked shut, and I gave you the key
Promise never, never to leave!
As lies hold me and this emptiness fills my broken heart.
Screaming your name hoping for a response.
Silence.
Summer, drowned by winter!
To look in your face and realized the time we spent
The chances I had…
… Have drifted away from my fingertips,
Your life, your thoughts, your dreams, your love.
Never tried my hardest and now I pray as the hurt enters.
I love you, and I still love you;
Even though I… even though I never showed it

A piece of me is gone forever.
Clutching memories held so close.
Repeating words of love spoken too late.

(My eyes look all around, but all they can focus on is you, for in you, I find me)

Days pass by and thy death still lingers.
This coldness will never satisfy me.
I want to be surrounded by angels,
In a place where the sun is so warm,
It burns my insides.

Surrounded by angels. Surrounded by angels.
Where love takes my darkest depressions…
And throws it into the deepest sea.
A place I can call home, I’m crying to you, Jesus
Mend me, break me, make me.
You’re all I’ve got now.

(My eyes look all around, but all they can focus on is you, for in you I find me.
Farewell my friend, your time has come.
And never will I be able to tell you “I love you” again…)

Underoath

I’m gonna close my mouth now
You don’t need more noise in your life

I miss you more than you know
But I know time makes you move on
I hear your footsteps
Move the floorboards above my head
I hope you know that I’m down here
Just for you.

My trusty Marshall JCM800 2x12 4010 Lead Combo. 50 Watts. All original. 2 Celestion G12M 70.Manufactured in 1984, I think, acquired in 1997.  Not an actual pic of my actual amp, but one I found on the Internets. You get the point… it’s vintage.
If I think a tube’s close to being shot, and I have sentimental attachment to it… I can’t decide. Should I: a) repair it, or b) sell it and get something new?  What would you do?

I would personally never get one of these, but DAMN!  The Roland TR-909 is *SO* 1990’s.
