This was the first show I ever went to at the Fillmore in SF and the first Fillmore poster I ever received. Very cool to find it, and the artist, here.

I was THRILLED to do this one… I had just gotten into the band and had fallen for them hard! This was for the much-maligned (unfairly in my book… I think it’s a brilliant album) “Do The Collapse” album tour… GBV put on a fantastic show… Pollard, drunk as hell, belted out every note to perfection… The poster was based on the old Soviet posters of the early 20th century… I was really getting into the Stenberg Brothers at the time (still my favorite poster artists of all time.) and ran across an image similar to this… created a different face and added the TransAmerica Pyramids…
TIDBIT: The opening band was Tommy Keene. I spelled the name correctly on my submitted version, but it came back to me to “correct” the name…. I did. (oops!)
